The St. Vincent General Hospital District (SVGHD) board of directors voted unanimously for Brett Antczak – MHA, CMPHE, to fill the top leadership role at St. Vincent Health at a meeting on Oct. 22. Antczak is expected to be on site soon to begin his new position as CEO.
“I’m excited to join the team at St Vincent Health. I admire their enthusiasm, dedication and focus on patient care and service to the community,” says Antczak. “I look forward to the future we will build together.”
Antczak’s executive leadership experience in healthcare spans 20 years. He has led clinics, critical access hospitals and large health systems, where he excelled in strategic planning and transformative innovation.
After earning his bachelor’s in behavioral science and health at the University of Utah, Antczak attended medical school at the University of Iowa in Des Moines. A year into medical school, he felt called to the leadership and management side of healthcare and pursued his master’s in health administration. He is currently a PhD candidate in business administration.
Brett and wife Christie met in choir practice when they were undergraduates at the University of Utah. The Antczaks lived in Grand Junction for 14 years, until assignments took them to Texas and Iowa. Brett and Christie are anxious to return to Colorado, for the outdoor lifestyle and especially hiking, boating and hunting opportunities. Their three young adult children are completing high school and college, with two of them pursuing careers in the health field.
The district board expressed gratitude for the high caliber of candidates who applied for the CEO position. “We were fortunate to have three very qualified finalists who demonstrated enthusiastic interest in being part of Leadville and Lake County,” said Aleta Bezzic, SVGHD Board Chair “Brett is a proven leader and our board looks forward to working collaboratively with him as he leads St. Vincent Health, and the hospital district, into the future.”
